5 Misconceptions About Working with a Recruiter Debunked

the night before the job search

Somewhere along the line, recruiters have gotten a bad rap. We want to take this opportunity to address the worst of these misconceptions about working with us and set the record straight once and for all.

Recruiters take part of your paycheck.

This is not the case. We get paid by employers only if we make a placement. This payment does not come from your paycheck.

Recruiting services are always free for job-seekers. It is illegal in many states to collect payment for job search services from job-seekers. If you are ever asked to pay, it’s time to find a new recruiter.

Recruiters only want to collect resumes.

A resume is just a piece of paper and a sheet of paper can’t do a job. Our number one objective is to place people in jobs that are a good fit for them. How easy it would be if it was only about collecting resumes!

Recruiters don’t do real interviews.

Say what? Yes, we do. Any interview you have with us is a real interview and goes a long way towards setting the tone of the relationship you’ll have with us. First impressions are lasting ones so take the time to prepare, dress professionally, and bring your A-game.

Recruiters only work temp jobs or are a “temp agency.”

We work on several different types of roles. The majority of the positions that we fill are direct-hire permanent roles. We also work on contract position, temp-to-perm and part-time positions. In fact, the current job market is much more in favor of direct-hire positions.

Recruiters can find “everyone” a job.

While we’d love to be able to do this, unfortunately there is no guarantee we’ll be able to find an opportunity for you. What you can count on is our years and years of recruiting experience from across our team and our established and strong working relationships with many top-notch employers. Because of this, we receive new requests for many skill sets, industry and experience levels on a daily basis.
